Anonymous donations
Where a gift goes when the donor chose not to be identified.
Some donors give without giving their name, and platforms like CanadaHelps pass those through with the name blank or written as Anon. The money is real, it cleared your bank, and it belongs in your totals.
Where it goes
Anonymous gifts are filed to a single Anonymous donations account in your records. It is a bookkeeping bucket, not a person: it stays out of your prospect lists, your ratings, your portfolio and your outreach, because there is nobody there to cultivate. Your giving totals still count every cent of it.
Why not a donor called Anonymous
Because it would turn into one. Filing them to a person means a fictional donor slowly accumulating four years of giving, appearing in your top-donor list and in your ratings, and eventually somebody schedules a meeting with them.
One thing Relae needs
An anonymous gift has to carry its own transaction id from the platform, which CanadaHelps and Stripe both provide. Without one there is no way to tell two anonymous 25 dollar gifts on the same day apart from the same gift imported twice, and Relae will not quietly drop one of them. Rows without an id are refused where you can see them.
